A chat between Neo buggy and Miguel Matias    2009/03/10

At last weekend's Portuguese Nats we managed to corner the former European Champion and ask him a few key questions....

The big question, why did you leave Kyosho?
As I have said before it was time to accept new challenges... also the possibility to work closely with the factory in development made the difference.

For a couple of years GS were doing well in the 1/8 Offroad scene, but have since faded, do you think the current setup can return to those times and be even stronger ?
Of course, if I didn't believe we could do much better I could not have accepted GS's challenge. I think the new strategy the company adopted, where they are working directly with the drivers will improve their range of products and make it a much more competitive company in the r/c market. Also after testing the car I realized it is a nice platform to work on.

What are your thoughts on the new CLX buggy ? – Can it compete with the current line of popular buggys ?
The car I'm currently using is still only a prototype and it has details that are being improved so I'm confident that CLX will be a fast and reliable car that will be able to compete with other brands.

What are the main advantages from the CLX buggy to MP9 buggy ?
I don't think you can say that any one car is better than the others, it depends on many things for example the driver's style... what for me is the perfect car or set up maybe undrivable for others. I my opinion the CLX's main advantage is the fact that is a very easy car to drive (but still aggressive) that can be adapted to a variety of drivers and tracks.

We hear your changing your engine, from Sirio to Ninja ? How come?
They weren't very honest with me... they didn't fulfil the contract so i left.

And tyres, still AKA ?
Yes I will race with AKA this year and probably for some time, I like their way of working having started doing tires with some innovative ideas and still having new ones for the future.
